Previously, I used to use an iPhone app to measure/track quality of sleep.
In order to measure the sleep, put iPhone on my bed and taking sleep, then, if my body moves on the bed, the iPhone detects the vibration and recognize it as shallow sleep(REM sleep or light sleep). If there is no vibration, it means deep sleep (Non-REM sleep).
But, such app is hard to use it.
- Users need to launch the app before sleep
- We cannot know when we fall asleep
- Vibration strength is depending on the bed. The app may not detect correct shallow sleep.
I quit using the iPhone app for such reasons.
When Apple Watch is released, there were rumor about measuring/tracking sleep quality by Apple Watch among people who are onto sleep. However, such apps were not appeared for a while.
I searched apps for sleep, then I found sleep measurement application. It is AutoSleep. $2.99.

How to use AutoSleep
App setting is required before using the app.
In order to increase accuracy of sleep tracking, the users must register usage of iPhone and Apple Watch.
I think this app users have Apple Watch. So, the Apple Watch should be registered as a tracking device.
This adjustment for period of one sleep. This setting does not affect the accuracy of sleep tracking.
Basically, this setting should be None if you wear Apple Watch in anytime.
This setting for notification when you have your iPhone after awake. The notification is a summary of the sleep. This setting is not important for the users who check a record of the sleep after every awake.
This setting should be No if you wear Apple Watch during sleeping.
Basic sleeping time. This setting is depending on the person. Default number is 8.0 hours.
The timer for detecting sleep. This timer is activated when you stops your movement.
This setting should be updated based on your life style or movement during sleep.
Accuracy of sleep tracking
Sleep tracking accuracy is quite good. The time I fall asleep was recorded and awake time is also correct.
But some records were strange. Sleeping time is really correct, but the times I did not move are not correct. Those times are recorded as shallow sleep. I need to remove such records manually.

What I understand after sleep tracking (Should not drink alcohol)
Drinking alcohol makes sleep quality bad. I understand it clearly.
My heart rate keeps high even during asleep.
Sometimes, there were no deep sleep while asleep.
This image is the time there was no deep sleep. I drank too much.
If you drink alcohol, it should be stopped before 2 or more hours. Sobering up makes better sleep.
When should we charge Apple Watch?
I use Apple Watch to track sleep. When should I charge my Apple Watch battery?
The answer is that I should charge the battery while not important time, for instance, shower or meal.
Apple Watch does not need long time for 100% charge. 2 hours is enough.

People who are onto sleep should use this app.
Sleep detection accuracy is very good and the user interface for displaying the details is good too.
